i carved a slash in sand
that my captive toes could not cross.
i built a barbed wire fence around
my ivory tower, so not
to breach its boundaries.
the storm tempest battled.
the trees shook.
the rivers pushed.
the ocean crashed.
the rocks smashed and shattered.
and when i stepped outside again
i did see in the sky
a shimmering sunlight
where i was the lone angel basking
the winds, they had beat my wall
to the earthy grounds.
the winds, they had washed
my line free of boundaries.
i just might walk into the ocean
with the waves ebbing at low tide.
